This truly was a ride in the way back machine! Everything you want in a contractor but can only get if you travel back through time: Punctual; professional; honest; fair; knowledgeable; competent; thorough; conscientious; friendly; detailed; and precise. Unbelievable customer service all the way around. Isaac started out with help, who happened to be under the weather. It's obvious he cares about his employees, because he sent his guy home and continued the install in the crazy, driving snow by himself. "After many problems with our first heat pump, I learned more than I ever intended to about HVAC systems. The issues were not due to the heat pump itself, but to the installation.

After much research, it became clear that a proper installation, involves a critical balance between unit size, ductwork, and carefully following the manufacturer's process for charging the system. Many contractors take shortcuts on the latter two.

When my original heat pump failed, I debated another repair or replacement. After talking to more contractors than planned, I found Brewer Heating & Cooling on the Trane website.

Brewer Heating & Cooling stood out in several regards to other contractors:

  • They were the only one to offer a reasonable estimate on repairing my old system (instead of just pressuring me to replace it)
  • Technical knowledge
  • Integrity (I check out, the best I could, statements made by the contractors.)

I decided to go with a new Trane system installed by Brewer Heating & Cooling. After almost two years with the new Trane heat pump, I can offer this summary:

  • The system has worked flawlessly.
  • The minor ductwork changes have improved the airflow, resulting in more consistent temperature throughout the house.
  • We like the variable speed fan option, also suggested by Brewer Heating & Cooling, which slowly brings up and ramps down the fan speed.
  • Compared to my original installation, the new one is very professional. It is apparent there was a lot of attention to detail in the work.
  • I felt they were interested in providing a good system, rather than just making a sale.
